The orphanage was founded to care and protect the many orphaned un-weaned wild Elephants found wandering in and near the forests of Sri Lanka. It was established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation.
There are more than 80 elephants around 25 Acres.
Best time to visit is morning before 10:00 or evening 3:00. At that time is scheduled for elephants bathing time. You won’t forget how they are enjoying the bathing.
The biggest animal on the ground rolling over the river and having their best time of the day.
